Hello AzureShippers.

I was thinking back on the club and I decided something fun is an honor known as "Member of the Month" to award our extremely active members of the club.

Allow me to explain.

We have members who are very generous with drawing pictures of our favorite pairing and contributing comments and information to pages. These members put a little bit extra into their membership, and they deserve a little extra recognition.

So, every month, I will review our members (to the best of my ability) and decide who has put in the extra contribution.

The winner of each month will be featured on the main page of the club as well as this one, along with a picture of one of their contributions. For example, if you submitted pictures for the club, we'll pick one of your best pictures and include it with your name.

A member can only win once a year, that way it's fair. We don't want to pick one person over and over again.

We advise you be creative in contributions. Maybe do a poster for the club as advertisement or look up some new information to add to pages. Little things can be incredibly helpful.

I want this to be fun for everyone.

I'm about 3 hours early of December, but I want to get this up now instead of later.

The winner as the AzureShipping Club's first ever "Member of the Month" is... KazumiAkai!



Her lovely AzureShip works such as Finally Alone are incredible additions to the support. Without her, our club would hardly have a gallery. She is very supportive and active on the club, one of our finest members.

So kudos to Miss KazumiAkai! We hope she'll keep up the awesome job!

Well, I'm a day early, but I have the next member of the month. This time, we have a very new member who wins it because they simply stood out to me and seems to have gone that extra mile to try and help make this club great, despite the short time of membership.

She gave us the lovely pic AnzuxSeto to add to the gallery and also suggested the Valentine's Day theme for our current contest. She took the time to give some ideas to help make the club better, and it is very much appreciated.

Sorry that the old version of this page upset some people. I did not mean for it be biased, I was just a little bored and wrote up this page . Please don't be upset with me or the club. I rewrote the page so let me know if you're still upset by it.

Instead, this page is going to focus on why AzureShipping can be considered a strong pairing. There will be referances to some other YGO shippings, but I'm not trying to trash them at all. Just a harmless comparison. Like you, I support other Seto and Anzu pairings too.

¤ Yu-Gi-Oh! Plot Points ¤

In Yu-Gi-Oh!, Seto is not officially paired with anyone. This allows us fans to use our imagination in hooking up our favorite CEO. So if we compare the females of the series (we will not include Yaoi in this) we can conclude why AzureShipping is compatible with the show's plot.

Anzu has constantly showed backbone to Seto, and converses with him more than half the girls in the show. When we think Seto, we think hardcore, emotionless, and kind of cruel. Although a sweet girl could be good for him, she needs to be able to hold her ground against him just the same. Anzu fits these qualities very well. The anime/manga represents her as a kind, caring female character that also has a temper and stubborn disposition.

Because Anzu never actually pairs up with Yuugi or Yami Yuugi, despite the hints, we AzureShippers cannot help but keep hoping. And since Seto did not end up with Kisara seeing as she died and as far as we know was never reincarnated, the match-up of Anzu x Seto is very possible.

Seto shows no signs of romantic feelings for anyone, however has shown a number of times that Anzu is able to influence him, if only a little.

¤ Personality Points ¤

Let's reflect a little more on the characters’ personalities.

Anzu is pretty, strong-willed, determined, brave, kind, temperamental, loyal, and considered a spitfire by some. These traits are mildly contradicting and make her a tough cookie. She's girly, and yet a little tom boyish. She needs a guy who won't bend too easily and who is a bit of a challenge to balance her own traits.

Seto is handsome, stubborn, cold, remotely emotionless, bossy, egotistical, but he has a good heart under that coat of ice. He needs someone who can melt some of this ice and touch his heart. If he can form an emotional connection with someone other than his little brother Mokuba, it would help him develop in a positive way.

When comparing these two, their personalities would be able to balance fairly well. Their relationship would lead to an intriguing love-hate quality; with some arguments here and there, their love could still be strong enough to hold them together.

¤ FanArt Points ¤

AzureShipping tends to be a subject to some of the most beautiful fanart of Yugioh pairings. (Seriously, I'm in shock at how amazing some of the art is. Wow) The scenes are often depicted as fantasy or somewhat dark like rain or night.

This pairing is often shown to be good for lust and passion and the pictures usually express this. It's dynamic and sexy, which is what makes it a treat to see an amazing Azure work. Emotion is a big key.

The pictures are not normally sweet or cute unless chibis or family pics are involved. This might be a weakness, but the amazing art boosts this point up high.

¤ Fanfiction Points ¤

Like fanart, Azureshipping fics that are truly amazing tend to focus on lust, emotion, and passion. It is powerful and keeps your eyes glued to the screen when the fic is written this way.

Because Seto x Anzu is a love-hate, the fanfics tend to have a high satisfaction with numerous issues such a emotional denial, power/control issues, sexual attraction/impulses, and so on. Not to mention, numerous fics throw Anzu and Seto in awkward situations where their feelings get the chance to grow, and it's always fun to read.

The sarcastic humor in some of these fics is another pleasure that can be indulged in. However, many of these fics that truly blow the mond lack innocence and are rated T or highter. There are a few that are sweet and cute, but the full effect is normally in a T or M fic, occasionally a K+.

¤ Duelist Kingdom ¤

Episode 24 (Japanese version)

° Seto threatens to throw himself off the cliff if Yami Yuugi defeats him during their duel. Anzu warns him not to be brash. Note that she always refers to Seto with honorifics, "Kaiba-kun", which in Japan shows respect. Jounouchi "Joey" and Honda "Tristan" always drops the suffix and simply call him "Kaiba" to emphasize their contempt. This shows that although Seto is not on good terms with Yuugi and the gang, Anzu (and Yuugi) does not dislike him enough to be rude.

Seto: I'll gladly die for a duel!

Anzu: Kaiba-kun! Don't do anything dangerous!

° Yuugi lets Kaiba win, however breaks down in tears because he won't be able to save his grandfather. Seto isn't sympathetic and says Yuugi was too weak to do whatever it takes to win. Anzu tells him otherwise. Not liking what she says, he leaves without saying another word.

Seto: If you had the cold-heartedness to push me off the ravine, you'd have won. It's foolish to care about a Duelist's saf-

Anzu: No! You're Wrong! The one who lost the game, Kaiba-kun, is you!

Seto: What?

Anzu: Kaiba-kun... you bet your chip of life as if it were nothing! You lost to yourself! When you realized you would lose to Yuugi, you couldn't live anymore. Real courage is protecting that chip in your hands no matter what. The moment you give that up, you lose! Yuugi protected your chip instead of winning.

¤ Battle City ¤

Episode 78 (English version)

° Jounouchi "Joey" is possessed by Malik "Marik" and Yami Yuugi is forced to battle Jounouchi while Anzu is strapped to a chair. An oversized crate looms over her head while a Rare Hunter controls the crate. Mokuba begs Seto to save her.

Seto: Yuugi has quite a predicament on his hands... And if either of them tries to escape, then Téa's done for! ...Unless my plan works soon. But time is running out!

° Seto devises a plan and defeats the Rare Hunter. He then uses one of his remote-controlled choppers to remove Anzu' trap. Sadly, Anzu only thanks Mokuba. As the group runs off to save Yuugi and Jounouchi, Kaiba watches her them as they run pass him.

¤ Noa Arc ¤

Episode 110 (Japanese version)

° After Seto defeats the last member of the Big Five, he leaves the group to battle Noa in order to save Mokuba, telling the gang that this was not their business and to stay out of it. Jounouchi eagerly complies, but Yuugi still wants to help Seto and goes after him. Obviously Anzu feels the same way, she knows Kaiba needs them and is willing to go support him too.

Anzu: I'll go with you!

° When Yuugi and Anzu reach a two way passage in the tunnel, Anzu immediately knows which way Seto goes. She runs off quickly leaving Yuugi to catch up.

Anzu: This way!

Yuugi: Anzu, how do you know?

Anzu: My instincts!

Episode 111 (English version)

° Yuugi and Jounouchi are trying to figure out Noa's and Seto's association. This angers Seto and again tells them to stay out of his business. Walking away, Anzu stops him and again tries to beat some sense into his head (not literally). Even when Jounouchi tells her Seto's not worth her trouble, Anzu still doesn't give up on Kaiba.

Seto: I've heard enough!

Téa: Hold right there!

Seto: What's the problem?

Téa: Going somewhere? If so then that's the problem. You got that Kaiba?

Seto: Just step aside, I already told you geeks that this is family business and it doesn't concern you. So move it!

Téa: That's where you're wrong, Kaiba!

Joey: Just let him go, Téa. He's not worth it.

Téa: You may be too concerned with yourself to realize this, but because of your family business we're all trapped here. Don't you realize we can help you save Mokuba?

Seto: Humph *looks away*

Téa: Look at me when I'm talking to you. Mokuba is our friend and we want to help him.

¤ Manga ¤

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist Manga Vol. 1 (English version)

° Yuugi recieved a package and is sitting with his friends waiting to watch a tape that was sent in the package. They are discussing a duel monsters tournament that is on TV and Anzu brings up Kaiba. It's a small moment, but the fact she thought of Seto immediately is a bit of a hint.

Yuugi: But I made a decision... when I enter a tournament, it'll be to fight him

Jounouchi: *Looks confused*

Anzu: You mean Kaiba...

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist Manga Vol. 2 (English version)

° Mokuba nabbed Yuugi's starchips but the gang caught him and are trying to understand what's going on. Anzu is the only one who is trying to be calm with Mokuba.

Jounouchi: Mokuba, you weasel! I know you stole two of Yuugi's starchips! Give em back, you've got em in your hand!

Mokuba: I won't give em back!

Jounouchi: Grr... why you little...

*Anzu goes over to Mokuba and leans down to his level with a calm look on her face.*

Anzu: Mokuba... are you still mad at Yuugi?

Mokuba: Of-of course I am! He's the one who made my big brother the way he is!

Anzu: *Looks sad* So Kaiba's still...

Mokuba: Yes! In a coma! He's under 24-hour care in the mansion... The world's greatest doctors have looked at him but... they say he might spend the rest of his life like that!

° It shows a panel of Anzu, Honda, and Jounouchi. Anzu is the only one who truly looks sad and concerned about it.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist Manga Vol. 8 (English version)

° Yugi and the gang are searching for Seto after the tournament is over.

Mokuba: B-Big brother... Grrr! Where IS he?! Is he really on this island!?

Honda: We looked around but we couldn't find him...

Jounouchi: Maybe Kaiba's soul was summoned to heaven...

Anzu: *Looks angry* Jounouchi, don't make jokes like that!

° Like many of the manga moments, Anzu is the only one who shows concern and grows angry at the joke Jounouchi makes, which can lead oyu to believe she cares about Seto. A few panels later, Anzu is watching Mokuba and Seto embrace and Yami comments on this. She seemed amazed at the moment between the Kaiba brothers. Not a mega moment,but still something.
